The Birdsong Chapel’s First Anniversary

We are absolutely in disbelief that the Birdsong Chapel is just over ONE YEAR old! So much love and many happy memories have been shared here already.

Today we want to take a look back at where things all began…

Brooke’s Fresh Cut Flower Farm found its beginning in 2020 during the height of COVID-19. It was during that time that Brooke and her parents, Don and Joann, began dreaming about building a wedding venue to complement the flower farm.

“FARMING IS HARD WORK! BUT THE OUTCOME IS GLORIOUS.” - Brooke Freeman

It didn’t take long at all before the flower farm quickly caught on in the community through Brooke’s CSA (community supported agriculture) delivery services. Because seriously, who wouldn’t want beautiful, fresh flowers during the ever-so-long quarantine?!

At least something good came out of that time (ha!).

It was in November of that same year that we began clearing a path to what is now known as the Birdsong Chapel. Later in March of 2021, construction on the future ceremony space began just days after Brooke’s daughter, Joanna Freeman, was born.

Construction on the Birdsong Chapel lasted for roughly five months before it was finally complete. Then, as if a beautiful open-air chapel nestled in the woods wasn’t enough, we immediately began working on the newest addition to the property, the Carriage Hall.

The Carriage Hall was designed to keep with the all-white aesthetic of the chapel and was intended to serve as the reception space for the venue.

Just a few weeks after breaking ground on the Carriage Hall, we had our very first styled shoot and open house! Of course we reached out to two of our favorite vendors - The Social South and Dakota Hersey Photography to help us pull it off.

That day was definitely a test of faith, as we were literally crossing our fingers all day hoping that somebody would show up.

The support we received from our community that night was completely overwhelming!! We had nearly 500 people in attendance to our very first open house! We couldn’t believe it.

Not only that, but we booked multiple weddings that night! And we were standing in an unfinished Carriage Hall at that.

Our family has always been open about our faith in God, and this was just one of those days that we give Him all the credit for.
